Mena Art Gallery’s monthly Art Awareness program for April will feature Gar Eisele, Chair of Arkansas Regional Coalition of the Ouachitas (ARCO). ARCO was founded to lead in creating prosperity and well being for the people of Montgomery, Polk, and Scott counties.
Gar will be speaking about an ARCO initiative called “Putting ARCO on the Map”. This initiative encourages ARCO region businesses to increase their web presence by maximizing their Google search results. He will also be discussing downtown revitalization efforts.
The gallery is working closely with ARCO in their efforts to create a vibrant and attractive downtown area for our town. We have recently seen the addition of several “creative economy” businesses, and we’re gradually seeing some of the old buildings renovated and taking their place in what is rapidly becoming an “Art District” for Mena with Chameleon Arts, American Artisans, Cross-Eyed Cricket, Cherokee Trading Post, Ouachita Little Theatre, and Elle joining the gallery along main street. And there are more in the works!
This free program will give you some insight into what is going on in your town. It will be held at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, April 15, in the Mena Art Gallery classroom. If you would like more information, please call 479-394-3880 during regular gallery hours: 11 am to 2 pm on Tuesdays and 10 am to 3 pm on Wednesdays through Saturdays.
